§30.3HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT

The first version of CR 30, former Rule of Pleading Practice and Procedure (RPPP) 30, was adopted May 5, 1967, effective July 1, 1967. Depositions were previously the subject of Chapter 5.08 RCW (repealed 1957). CR 30 was amended substantially, effective July 1, 1972, to conform to the comprehensive 1970 discovery amendments to the federal rules. Other minor amendments, to bring the rule into conformity with the Washington Rules of Evidence, were effective April 2, 1979.

Amendments effective September 1,1985, provided that by stipulation or upon court order depositions could be taken by telephone or other electronic means and could be recorded by other than stenographic means.
