§ 24.1 • INTRODUCTION

Elder law attorneys are often faced with a variety of legal issues that fall outside of the traditional elder law realm. In addition, they are often close family advisors to whom their clients will turn first when a legal issue arises, even if it is outside the scope of their former or current engagements. Therefore, it is important for elder law attorneys to be able to spot legal issues in a variety of contexts, recognize when a referral to another attorney is worthwhile, and help the client understand the basics of the issues they present.

Age discrimination in the workforce is a legal issue that may come up for an elder law attorney's clients.
