§23.1.3HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT
The Washington Supreme Court adopted CR 23.1 on May 5, 1967, and patterned it after the comparable section of the federal rules, created by amendment in 1966. CR 23.1 took effect on July 1, 1967, and has not been amended since that time. Although the court adopted the predecessor rule on December 11, 1958, effective January 1, 1960, Washington law recognized this procedural device through statutes providing for stockholder derivative actions extending back to at least 1922.
