§ 22.1 • INTRODUCTION

Governmental employers encompass a significant percentage of the employers in the State of Colorado. This chapter provides an overview of some of the causes of action available to governmental employees in employment litigation against their employers in Colorado. The vast majority of the federal and state statutory and common-law contract and tort claims discussed elsewhere in this book have applicability to public sector employment. This chapter explores those additional claims and defenses specific to suits against government entities. However, the scope of the subject matter of this chapter requires that the topics discussed be addressed only in summary fashion.
