2.12 OBTAINING MEDICAL RECORDS
The provider typically has a limited right to object to producing medical records. Those requests are guided by section 8.01-413 of the Virginia Code and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act).177
Under Virginia Code section 8.01-399(B), the court can order a party to sign a medical authorization for the other party.
