In sum, these general insurance principles provide a framework for approaching the unique risk-management challenges that pharmaceutical companies face, for which "broad classes of liability insurance are now unavailable or unaffordable."344 These basic insurance concepts, however, apply with equal force to policyholders across different industries. In addition to this overview, policyholders should carefully examine their policies and become familiar with the law of the applicable jurisdiction.
