Millennial are the most-racially diverse and profitable group of small business owners in the U.S., according to findings from a Small Business Trends survey from Guidant Financial and LendingClub Corporation.

"Millennial make up only 18% of small business owners, but they are changing the way many think about entrepreneurship," says David Nilssen, CEO of Guidant Financial. 'They're proving you don't have to be a college graduate, invest a lot of money, or be of a specific demographic to succeed in small business."

Millennial are 94% more-racially diverse than baby boomers: 64% of millennial small business owners are people of color compared to 33% of boomers. The largest group of minority millennials are Hispanics (25%), followed by African-Americans (23%).

Eighty percent of millennial small businesses are profitable, two percent higher than the national average and four percent higher than their boomer counterparts.
