New chair takes reins at October council meeting.

Leslie A. Murphy of Michigan is the new chair of the AICPA Board of Directors. Her term, which became effective at the fall governing Council meeting, will expire in Oct. 2006.

Murphy's service to the Institute has included membership on several board committees, including the AICPA Finance Committee, of which she was chair; the Audit Committee; the Strategic Planning Committee; and the Compensation Committee. She also was a member of the AICPA Management of an Accounting Practice Committee and the Group of 100, a special body that offered insight and advice on issues affecting the CPA profession.
