Nonprofits play a vital role in our community. Here's how you can help.

Imagine a world without a single nonprofit organization. A world without local food banks, community outreach programs, and free health services for those who need them most. If you can imagine each of those things, you're probably thinking of a world that is bleak and underserved. Especially for those who are left behind. That's the gap nonprofits aim to fill, and they play a vital role in our community.

Nonprofit organizations are dedicated to a social cause, and they use the majority of their funds to further that goal. Instead of being held accountable by a corporate board, these organizations are held accountable by their donors, volunteers, and the public. In other words: nonprofit organizations are dependant on the generosity of their donors and volunteers. Without them, they would cease to exist.

As the holidays near, we wanted to take a moment to share three ways we could contribute to the success of nonprofits. So that the future for the populations they serve, continues to be bright.

DONATE YOUR TIME

It doesn't matter if you only have a few hours to spare on a Monday night. Many nonprofit organizations will take volunteers regardless of their time or schedule restraints, they're just looking for someone to help. If you can commit more time, see if there are any openings on the board of the nonprofit group. The position will likely be unpaid, but the experiences and the stories you'll be part of will be priceless.
