CAYMAN ISLANDS - ENVIRONMENT - Cayman Islands wants conservation plan to protect sea turtles.


Director of the Cayman Turtle Centre , Tim Adam, is seeking to transform its image from that of a tourist facility and meat production farm to one that of a rescue and conservation hub.

According to Adam, the Centre is pushing for the adoption of a species conservation plan it has produced for green sea turtles.

The facilities captive breeding programme, which involves the release of juvenile turtles and hatchlings into the wild, has been credited with kick-starting a resurgence of nesting sea turtles in Grand Cayman.
