Carita R. Twinem of Wisconsin Chapter becomes institute president: new Officers and Board Members installed at TEI's 2012 Annual Meeting of Members.

With the close of TEI's fiscal year on June 30, 2012, and the beginning of a new one, Tax Executive Institute's Annual Meeting of Members on August 14 completed the renewal process that marks the "circle of life" for the preeminent association of in-house tax professionals worldwide. This year's meeting, coupled with the immediately ensuing Board of Directors' meeting, was held in Mt. Tremblant, Quebec. In addition to reviewing the accomplishments during the term of immediate Past President David M. Penney of the Toronto Chapter, the Annual Meeting saw the elevation Carita R. Twinem of the Wisconsin Chapter as 2012-2013 International President.

Ms. Twinem assumes her post following a year of strategic review by the Institute. "Building on the momentum and enthusiasm engendered by the Vision 20/20 strategic plan developed during David Penney's term," Ms. Twinem said, "will be critical." The Vision 20/20 Task Force, she continued, created a living document that will sustain and guide the Institute through this decade and beyond. David. Penney said that Ms. Twinem was an integral member of the Vision 20/20 Task Force. "Carita understands the challenges facing in-house tax professionals and is committed to serving their needs. The Institute is fortunate to have her--and her complement of senior officers--at the helm to identify, define, and implement the initiatives that will move the Institute forward and maintain it as the preeminent association for in-house tax professionals worldwide."

A member of TEI's Wisconsin Chapter for more than 20 years, Ms. Twinem is Vice President--Tax for Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc. Before becoming the Institute's President, she held several important positions in TEI's leadership, most recently as Senior Vice President and chair of the Continuing Education Committee. She has also served on TEI's Executive Committee. Earlier in her TEI career, Ms. Twinem served as President of the Wisconsin Chapter, the chapter's representative on TEI's Board of Directors, and chair of TEI's Federal Tax Committee, where she was responsible for...
