"WHEN RICHARD JONES established Cannon IV from the garage of his modest eastside home, it was a gift of heritage to his wife and four sons."

That's the message on the first stop of the "heritage tour" that new employees at Cannon IV get when they arrive at the Indianapolis company which specializes in printing and imaging solutions, ranging from simple printers and supplies to strategic software solutions for document and graphics production. And it's a message that president and CEO Jerry Jones expects them to remember.

That's because Jones views the business as more than just a printer and MFP company with locations in Merrillville, Fort Wayne, Lafayette and across Ohio. He also sees the company as an ongoing testament to his father, who passed away in 1978, just five years after starting the business.

Cannon IV, named for the endurance of a cannon and the family's four sons, grew out of a business that had been started by Jones' grandfather on his mother's side. That company, Kee Lox, was established in 1918 as a carbon paper and typewriter ribbon manufacturer, and early samples of its products are on display at Cannon IV'S modern 40,000-square-foot headquarters in the Cottage Home neighborhood, just east of downtown Indianapolis.

After operating from a location at Fall Creek and College Avenue for 20 years, Cannon IV built the new facility in 2000. The building was designed to reflect the company's focus on both sales and service and the building includes a 20,000-square-foot distribution center that stocks a wide range of equipment, parts and supplies to serve customer accounts across the United States.

In an era of Internet companies that often have only virtual storefronts, Jones is proud of both the front showroom where customers can test various office equipment, a large service area where technicians make repairs and the distribution center stocked with enough inventory to meet all customer requests. Continued growth helps the company turn its inventory approximately 15 times each year, considerably faster than the industry average.

As an HP Gold Business Partner, Cannon IV offers the latest printing solutions and affordable color printing that is near photo quality at less than 5 cents per page. It also provides Panasonic equipment and works to help customers find the best way to save money and increase productivity with the right combination of equipment and printing choices.
