The 38th Annual Canadian Tax Conference was held May 2-5 in Gatineau, Quebec. TEI's Canadian Income and Commodity Tax Committees put together top notch sessions with outstanding speakers, including panel sessions with CRA and Finance during which senior officials discussed current issues and developments. Other technical sessions included, tax appeals process, tax audit experiences, GST hot topics, cross-border financing tips and traps, CRA access to information, GST planning opportunities, and a jurisprudence update.

The other purpose of the conference, and the primary reason it is held in the National Capital Region, is the opportunity to network with Federal Revenue and Finance officials. Auditor General of Canada Sheila Fraser delivered the keynote address during the Tuesday luncheon. The conference also featured the Liaison Golf outing on Monday.
