The Canadian Identity Theft Support Centre has joined the battle against identity theft in Canada. The agency aims to help victims of the nation's fastest-growing crime, which can include using someone else's identity to commit credit card fraud or secure a home mortgage.

According to an article in the Toronto Sun, Canada Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart supports the center, but says there are still legislative gaps that need to be addressed, such as an antispam bill.
