Regarding your column in the March issue of ColoradoBiz (Jeff Rundles, "Rainy-day mayor"): Your points about the next mayor inheriting a potential mess are well taken. He or she is going to have to be a good manager, as opposed to a cheerleader. But I take some exception to your contention that the mayor's office can do nothing to enhance the city's schools. Simply because there is no direct financial relationship doesn't mean there can't be significant cooperation. The city can play a major role in providing police protection in tougher schools...
