California manufacturer settles in Pickens County.

California-based Peabody Engineering and Supply is establishing a foothold in Pickens County with a $5.6 million investment and new facility.

The industrial polyethylene storage tank manufacturer plans to create 35 new jobs over the next five years, according to today's news release.

"After a five-year search for our new East Coast manufacturing location, we have settled on Pickens County in the beautiful state of South Carolina, Mark Peabody, CEO of Peabody Engineering, said in the release. "We chose this location not only for the strong labor force, but also because Pickens County and South Carolina both understand that manufacturing is the backbone of our nation's economy, and their focus is clearly on helping companies like ours succeed."

The company expects that the new facility, located in Liberty, will be complete in midsummer of 2021 in order to meet growing demand for the company's products, including storage tanks, telecommunication-disguising equipment and other plastic products.
