Calhoun v. Detella, 319 F.3d 936 (7th Cir. 2003). A male state prisoner sued prison employees under [section] 1983, alleging that a strip search conducted in the presence of female officers violated his Eighth Amendment rights. The district court dismissed the case for failure to state a claim and the prisoner appealed. The appeals court affirmed in part, and vacated and remanded in part. The appeals court held that the prisoner's allegations stated an Eighth Amendment claim.
