Firm: BPM Gives Back to the Community

Burr, Pilger and Mayer was awarded CalCPA's 2009 Public Service Award for Firms, which aims to recognize firms for their public service contributions on the local, state or national level.

The firm's recent BPM Day is just one example of the contribution it makes to the community. This year's event featured firm volunteers who assembled food products for shipment to distributors, who then passed out the food to those in need. The work included picking up the individual food items, packing them into boxes and loading the boxes onto a pallet. Volunteers packed 12 pallets, with 56 boxes on each pallet.

"The people at the food bank were very grateful for the help that we offered," said event organizer David Chong. "It was a lot of work getting through everything: each box had to be weighed upon completion, and if it weighed significantly different from 30 pounds, we had to check the box to see what food items we missed. We only had a couple of misses that day, so we did pretty good for the first day."
