Jeff Rundles makes some strong points ("Rundles Wrap-up," July) concerning the University of Colorado. He's right on target that "money won't fix CU's problems." Rundles is incorrect, however, when he posits that a state university "first and foremost ... ought to be an institution that serves its state." First and foremost every university, every school at any level, must seek and teach the truth. By doing so, it will solve its internal problems and serve its state.

Relativism pervades CU and most universities. As long it does, no university can stand up to the problems CU is attempting to explain away. Along with truth in academics comes the hard reality of imposing discipline on those who refuse to accept established norms of morality and decency.
