The soaring cost of health care premiums and an increasing inability to retain coverage for their employees and their own families remain the top worries of Alaska small-business owners, according to a survey released recently by the state's largest small-business advocacy organization.

"The cost of health care has remained the number one concern of small-business owners nationally and here at home for 17 years, and it gets more pronounced each year, which is why our survey sampled some possible remedies in order to present to lawmakers," said Thyes Shaub, NFIB/Alaska state director.
