"Persia beyond the Oxus." Edited by M. RAHIM SHAYEGAN. Bulletin of the Asia Institute 21 (n.s.) (2007 [2012]): 147-96.

The partial proceedings of the conference "Persia beyond the Oxus: The Circulation of Iranian Languages and Cultural Practices in Central Asia," convened by Nile Green and M. Rahim Shayegan at UCLA on April 22, 2010, appear as part of the rich offerings of the latest number of the Bulletin of the Asia Institute, under the general editorship of Carol Altman Bromberg. To quote the editor of the proceedings (guest editor for this portion of the BM), M. Rahim Shayegan: "Bringing together specialists in philology, archaeology, art history, and religion, the conference strove to assess the contributions of both Iran and Central Asia to the dispersal and vigor of East Iranian languages and cultural practices, and thereby identify the processes and mechanisms of language dissemination and transculturation more generally in Iran and Turan" (p. 147).

The proceedings as published consist of the editor's two-page introduction and papers by four contributors of the original eight; one of these papers, that of Nicholas Sims-Williams, is in fact a brief substitute for the paper actually delivered at the conference.
