Build Your Tax Career on a Solid Foundation With TEI Education Fund's Federal Tax Courses.

In 2000, the TEI Education Fund will once again sponsor the two federal tax courses that have become a "must-have" on any tax executive's resume:

* The introductory, or Level I, course will be held April 30-May 5 at Michigan State University, and is designed for individuals with less than four years' experience in federal tax matters.

* The advanced, or Level II, course, will be held July 16-21 at UCLA, and is designed for individuals with between four and eight years' experience.

Although the two courses retain their same basic structure, TEI's Federal Tax Committee has carefully reviewed the evaluations from previous years' offerings and made changes in both subjects and speakers. Most notably, the growing emphasis on the use of pass-through entities in corporate groups in the aftermath of the check-the-box rules has caused us to expand the time devoted to partnership issues at the Level II course. To accommodate the expanded coverage, the session on tax accounting issues was moved from Level II to Level I. In addition, since the topic of preparing for audits is addressed comprehensively in TEI's perennial Audits and Appeals Seminar, that session was eliminated to allow us to devote more time to other issues. In refashioning the courses, the committee has taken into account changes in the applicable rules, regulations, and procedures. The Institute's Continuing Education Committee is confident that participants in this year's courses will find them comprehensive, intellectually challenging, and professionally rewarding.
