Cake, candy, leftover pizza, soft drinks--as far as teens and eating go, breakfast foods run the gamut. Many base their food choices on taste, cost, and convenience, but when it comes to nutrients obtained vs. cost of food, these choices may not be very efficient.

Researchers from Baylor College of Medicine, Waco, Tex., examined more than 550 ninth-grade students and the breakfasts they ate to determine what foods provided more nutrients compared to their cost.
