In 1994 I set out on the road, to discover Brazil and have not stopped yet.

I never could have imagined, at the beginning, that this road that has taken me to so many places over the last six years would also lead me on an internal journey in such a visceral manner. Every time I sit down to write, another story springs up, something else new about my country.

As if our rivers were my own veins, our land my own flesh, and the expression here and now a possibility.

My greatest fear is that change is occurring too fast, and that in the whirlwind of globalization, concessions, and "progress," we will lose a...
