Brass v. County of Los Angeles, 328 F.3d 1192 (9th Cir. 2003). An arrestee brought an action against a deputy and county, alleging that the county violated his constitutional release by failing to timely release him from jail. The district court granted summary judgment for the defendants and the arrestee appealed. The appeals court affirmed. The appeals court held that a 39-hour delay in releasing the detainee was not unreasonable and did not violate his constitutional rights.
