Army Col. James Kennon, who has been selected for promotion to brigadier general, has been named deputy of acquisition and readiness for the Soldier and Biological Chemical Command. Previously, he was chief of staff of the Combined Arms Support Command.

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark announced that Navy Rear Adm. Richard K Gallagher has been assigned as assistant chief of staff for plans and policy for the supreme allied commander-Atlantic in Norfolk, Va. Gallagher currently is serving as commanding officer, USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).

Also, Navy Rear Adm. Thomas J. Kilcline Jr., has been assigned as assistant deputy chief of staff for aviation, Code AP, USMC, in Washington, D.C. Kilcline presently is serving as weapons plans and programs, N780J, OPNAV, in Washington, D.C.

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced that President Bush has nominated Air Force Lt. Gen. Donald G. Cook for appointment to the grade of general, with assignment as commander for the Air Education and Training Command at Randolph Air Force Base, in Texas. Cook currently is serving as vice commander for the Air Combat Command at Langley Alt Force Base, in Virginia.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Bruce A. Wright will replace Cook as vice commander for the Air Combat Command. Wright currently is serving as commander for the Joint Information Operations Center at the U.S. Space Command, commander for the Alt Intelligence Agency and deputy commander for information operations, Eighth Air Force, Air Combat Command, in San Antonio, Texas.

Gary Resnick has been named manager of the biological threat reduction program at the Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Laboratory, in Los Alamos, N.M. The lab's program in biological threat reduction aims to reduce the possible threat of biological agents from terrorist groups or third world countries.

Orbital Sciences Corporation, in Dulles, Va., announced that Roderick M. Hills has joined the company's board of directors. He has been appointed to the Board's four-member audit and finance committee.

Honeywell, located in Phoenix, Ariz., announced that Mike Smith, president of Honeywell's aerospace electronic systems, will retire after 28 years with the company, and Dean Flatt, president and CEO of Honeywell's specialty materials business group, will replace Smith.
