Navy Rear Adm. Alan S. Thompson, has been assigned as commander of the Defense Supply Center in Columbus, Ohio. Thompson is now strategic studies group fellow at the Naval War College in Newport, R.I.

Navy Rear Adm. Christopher W. Cole, has been nominated as director of the shore installation management division, N46, in the office of the chief of naval operations in Washington, D.C. Cole is commander of the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk, Va.

Navy Rear Adm. David Architzel has been named to replace Cole. Architzel is commander of the Naval Safety Center in Norfolk, and will continue in this position as additional duty.

Navy Rear Adm. Lindell G. Rutherford has been named commander of Carrier Group Four and commander of the Carrier Striking Force. Rutherford is director for operations, plans, policy and training at U.S. Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, Va.

Navy Rear Adm. James D. Kelly has been assigned to replace Rutherford. Kelly is now special assistant to commander of the Naval Air Force in the U.S. Pacific Fleet at San Diego, Calif.

Navy Rear Adm. Joseph Maguire has been nominated as chief of staff for the U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. Maguire is now deputy commander of the Naval Special Warfare Command in Coronado, Calif.

Larry Glasco, executive director of the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), has been named executive director of readiness and customer support for the Defense Logistics in Fort Belvoir, VA.

Navy Capt. Michael G. Lilienthal assumed the directorship of the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office, in Washington, D.C. He replaced Army Col. William Forrest Crain. Lilienthal has served as the deputy director since June 29. Crain, who had been the director since March 2000, will retire.

Air Force Lt. Gen Robert F. Raggio (Ret) recently joined Dayton Aerospace, Inc., a technical services and consulting firm, as executive vice president. Prior to his retirement, he was commander of the Aeronautical Systems Center in Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Raggio was previously the program executive officer for fighters and bombers and the system program director for the F-22 fighter.
