BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is donating $500,000 to the One SC Fund to support state storm recovery efforts.

The One SC Fund, administered by the Central Carolina Community Foundation, was established after the historic flood of 2015. The fund provides donations to nonprofits assisting with recovery from state-declared disasters such as Hurricane Florence.

"The people affected by this historic storm include our families, friends, coworkers and customers," BlueCross President and CEO David Pankau said in a news release. "Supporting the One SC Fund ensures that our contributions will get to those South Carolinians who need our support the most."

On Oct. 4, the One SC Funds Grants Committee announced the first round of grant awards for Hurricane Florence relief projects. A total of $165,000 was awarded to the following nonprofits and projects:

Catholic Charities of South Carolina: home recovery/rebuild, water/tree removal, food distribution, temporary lodging in Horry County

Dillon County Long-Term Recovery Group: home recovery/rebuild, water/tree removal, temporary lodging in Dillon County
