In the January 2007 edition of State Legislatures, you report a study by the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation showing Sunday sales of alcohol increase crash rates and fatalities. We also looked at these data. When alcohol-related crashes are compared before and after Sunday sales controlling for the change in non-alcohol related crashes, there is no statistically significant increase in fatal crashes and little evidence of any effect at all.
