BLN Editorial Board: Message from the Editor

Jerome A. Grossman

Welcome to Issue 4 of the 2018 Volume of the Business Law News (BLN), the last issue of our first year as part of the California Lawyers Association (CLA)!

Our Executive Committee Chair, Monique Jewett-Brewster, has already outlined the articles presented in this issue. I take this opportunity to bang one of my favorite drums: we need your help!

  • First, the BLN is seeking articles of general interest to business law practitioners. Publishing in the BLN is a terrific opportunity both to influence the discourse in the areas in which you practice and to market yourself and your skill set. We're looking for informative, well-written articles that remind members of the value of belonging to the Section. If you've prepared materials for an in-house training or other CLE presentation, for example, you might be able to turn that into an article that our readers would appreciate. And CLA is working on the capacity to post, not just the table of contents of the BLN, but entire issues, on its new website—making it easier for your work to be discovered by electronic search. As I write this, the new website is not up and running, so I set out below those of our submission guidelines most pertinent to the preparation of articles.
  • Articles for 2019 Issue 2 are due March 31, 2019. Please feel free to contact me, at grosspersonlaw@gmail.com, if you have any questions.
  • In addition, we continue our search for Section members willing to join the Editorial Board, to roll up their sleeves, and to help produce the BLN. Especially for people who don't have the five years of practice required for service on other Business Law Section standing committees (I'm looking at you, CYLA members!), the BLN Editorial Board is an early way to give back, and allows you to exercise, in a scholarly context, those editing muscles you first developed in law school. Email me at grosspersonlaw@gmail.com if you're interested in joining the Board, or if you have questions about what it's like.
