BLN Editorial Board: Message from the Editor

Jerome A. Grossman

Welcome to Issue 4 of the 2017 Volume of the Business Law News (BLN).

Most often, we editors use this Message as a supplement to the summaries of articles set out in the Table of Contents. I commend the Table of Contents, and those summaries of the articles, to you—and I want to make a special shout-out to the authors of this issue's articles, as well as to the CEBblog and the law firm of Littler Mendelson for allowing us to reprint their materials. Mainly, though, I want to use this issue's message to appeal to you, the members of the Business Law Section and readers of the BLN.

As you may have read in the messages from the Chair of the Business Law Section of the last couple of issues, we have been preparing—and are continuing to prepare—for life as part of an entity that is independent of the State Bar: the California Lawyers Association. And we'd like your help. The BLN is seeking articles of general interest to business law practitioners.

Publishing in the BLN is a terrific opportunity both to influence the discourse in the areas in which you practice and to market yourself and your skill set. Circulated on a quarterly basis to the approximately 8,200 members of the Business Law Section, we have a wide-ranging audience, and the Section has always considered the BLN to be one of the most significant benefits it provides to its members. We're looking—not just right now, but on a continuous basis—for informative, well-written articles that remind members of the value of belonging to the Section. If you've prepared materials for an in-house training or other CLE presentation, for example, you might be able to turn that into an article that our readers would appreciate. I set out below those of our submission guidelines most pertinent to the preparation of articles.

Articles for 2018 Issue 2 are due March 31, 2018. Please feel free to contact me, at grosspersonlaw@gmail. com, if you have any questions.

And if you're interested in getting involved in the Business Law Section—in giving back to the profession on a more...
