Black Philanthropy Month events planned for August.

Central Carolina Community Foundation is celebrating Black Philanthropy Month with several local events in August.

Black Philanthropy Month was created in 2011 by Jackie Bouvier Copeland and the Pan-African Women's Philanthropy Network as an annual global celebration of African-descent giving. This year's theme is Let's Make History.

"We believe that the diversity of our communities is a fundamental strength of our region," JoAnn Turnquist, president and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation, said in a news release. "We are proud to celebrate the amazing work of our region's diverse multicultural philanthropists."

Events being held this month include the Black Entrepreneur Survival Summit on Aug. 23.
