Growing up, he heard his father talk business at the dinner table. Today, Bill Schuck proudly runs his father's company, and he's quickly making it his own.

Although Schuck was thinking architecture when he entered college, he ended up a business major, earning his bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1983 while competing on the ski team. After a short stint in the high-tech arena, he joined Grubb & Ellis as an industrial real estate broker. Success followed but, "There just wasn't enough emphasis on relationships or flexibility to be creative and look toward the future."

He then joined a Schuck Corporation affiliate in Castle Rock, an office he guided to No. 1 of all regional commercial real estate corporations for leasing and sales. His name soon became as well known as his father's.

In 1992, Schuck and an associate met with his father and established a partnership to acquire and develop land exclusively in Boulder County. It was a move that precipitated an eventual change in leadership and a renaissance for the family business.

Backed by the legendary Bill Daniels, his second mentor, Schuck successfully took on residential development as well as commercial. So successfully, in fact, that in 1996, Schuck's father asked him to come on board and prepare to take the helm. Only 36, at the time, Schuck says, "That was the proudest moment of my life."
