Steamboat's slopes lured Bill Gamber and his clothing manufacturer, BAP Inc., West in 1990, but it was another decade before the entrepreneur looked at horizontal expansion. Local designer Brad Johnson brought Gamber an innovative sleeping bag concept and the two co-founded Big Agnes. "He thought there was a better way," said Gamber.
