Best Reviewer Awards – 2012
The Editors are pleased to announce the following recipients of the Journal of Supply
Chain Management’s 2012 Best Reviewer Award:
Christian Busse (European Business Tim Coltman (University of Wollongong)
School)
John Gray (The Ohio State University) Shashank Rao (Auburn University)
The selection of these reviewers was a difficult process, as we had a very large number of
truly outstanding reviewers to choose from. Our criteria were based on the depth of the
review, rapport established with the authors, and timeliness.
We initially created a short-list of reviewers based on these criteria. All of the reviewers
on this short-list submitted their reviews on-time, or early, since first and foremost a good
review is one that is on time. All of the reviewers on this short-list had also taken the
effort to establish a constructive and positive rapport in writing their reviews. They
provided major as well as specific comments for improving the paper. In further
evaluating these reviews, we found that Christian, Tim, John, and Shashank provided the
greatest number, but more importantly an even greater depth of comments. They often
suggested concrete and viable means by which the authors could address the reviewers’
concerns. Examples of their suggestions included identifying specific works in the extant
literature that the authors might be able to integrate into their manuscript to bolster
theoretical support for their models or clarify methodological issues, recommending ways
to reorganize the conceptual parts of the papers, and suggesting means to better assess the
validity of the manuscripts’ findings.
We also want to give a hearty “thank you” to the many additional reviewers who have
provided superb feedback to authors of manuscripts submitted to JSCM. Congratulations
to all of you on a job well done!
