With gas prices tending to peak during the summer months and Americans collectively losing about $124,000,000,000 in wasted time and fuel due just to traffic congestion, the personal-finance website WalletHub took a look at 2016's Best & Worst Cities for Driving.

The number crunchers compared the 100 most-populated cities across 21 key metrics. The data ranges from average gas prices to average annual hours of traffic delays to number of auto-repair shops per capita.

The 10 best cities for driving--with five of the top six from Arizona--starting at No. 1, are Scottsdale, Ariz.; Tucson, Ariz.; Corpus Christi, Texas; Gilbert Ariz.; Mesa Ariz.; Chandler, Ariz.; Reno, Nev.; Laredo, Texas; Las Vegas, Nev.; and Tampa, Fla.

By contrast, the 10 worst cities for driving, starting at the bottom, are Washington, D.C.; Detroit, Mich.; San Francisco, Calif.; Chicago, Ill.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Baltimore, Md.; Oakland, Calif.; New York, N.Y.; Seattle, Wash.; and Boston, Mass.
