BERNADETTE PETERS IN CONCERT ACORN MEDIA HOME VIDEO 91 MINUTES, $19.95

Start with a Tony Award-winning Broadway star, stick her in front of an orchestra, and turn her loose with the best from the Stephen Sondheim songbook, and you have all the ingredients for a crowdpleasing concert. That was all that was needed for Bernadette Peters to enchant an adoring audience in London's Royal Festival Hall. With no special effects--unless you count a strapless gown that stayed up only thanks to the marvels of modern engineering and Peters' repeated tugging the top north when it wanted to go south--she belts out hit after hit for an hour and a half, all solo except for a silly British music hall-type number with four chorus boys, raincoats, and umbrellas.
