Benchmade sponsors disabled vet climb.

Benchmade Knife Co. recently sponsored "Soldiers to the Summit," an extreme mountain-climbing expedition of expert climbers and wounded combat veterans from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Organized by World T.E.A.M. Sports, a nonprofit organization that supports disabled athletes through team athletic events, the 20-day expedition took place Oct. 2-21.

Each team member carried a Benchmade Model 940SBK folding knife, personalized with a custom laser mark. This also was the second time Benchmade supported expert climber Erik Weihenmayer, who is blind. He first reached the summit of Everest in 2001, also with a Model 940SBK in hand.
