Ben Neuhausen receives AICPA Special Recognition Award.

Ben Neuhausen, former chairman of the AICPA's Accounting Standards Executive Committee, is the recipient of the 2009 Special Recognition Award. The Institute presents the award to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to a particular area of the profession. It is not an annual award, but given only when someone deserves to be recognized.

Neuhausen received the award for his contributions to accounting standard setting. He is a partner and National Director of Accounting for BDO Seidman, LLP. He holds an MBA in Accounting from New York University and a BA in Economics from Michigan State University. Over his eleven-year tenure at the Accounting Standards Executive Committee, he led the committee in its transition from a standard setter into a provider of useful non-authoritative accounting guidance for various industries.
