Behavioral health facility breaks ground on expansion.

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health broke ground recently on an 18-bed expansion that the organization says will help meet a growing demand for behavioral health treatment in the Upstate.

"Our goal in this expansion is to improve access to treatment for those dealing with addiction and mental health issues," Jerry Chapman, CEO of The Carolina Center, said in a news release. "Fortunately, the stigma surrounding mental health is decreasing and more people are seeking treatment. This expansion will give us an even greater ability to help those in need."

Anticipated opening of the new unit is late 2020. The expansion project also includes a larger, more accessible admissions area as well as reconfiguring dining services in order to improve the patient...
