A Human-Centered Solution to Successful Al Integration

Donald Bellamy currently serves as a Deputy County Attorney in Campbell County, Wyoming, since 2023. Before his current employment, he started his legal career in 2021 as an Assistant Public Defender. He also serves on the Ad Hoc Committee on Attorney Well- Being.

The legal profession is in an exciting time of innovation with the hopes that technologies such as Artificial Intelligence will save valuable resources for attorneys, staff, clients, and courts. As the legal profession continues to adapt to these changes, many can see that AI will be just as commonplace as e-filing a court document or using the internet to conduct legal research.

The research study highlighted that "organizations should proactively address the potential negative impact of Al adoption on employee wellbeing by implementing strategies to manage job stress and foster self-efficacy in Al learning."

While investigating how AI will change the way we work in our profession, a 2024 academic paper out of South Korea caught my attention. The researchers set out to investigate "the relationships between AI adoption, job stress, burnout, and self-efficacy in AI learning."^[1]

The research study highlighted that "organizations should proactively address the potential negative impact of AI adoption on employee wellbeing by implementing strategies to manage job stress and foster self-efficacy in AI learning."^[2]

This article examines some ways that the legal profession should address this challenge. By tackling the ever-evolving transition to this new technology, the profession will not only save resources but also be of benefit to the well-being of those who will interact daily with AI in the workplace.

Focusing on Positive Events and Challenges Ahead
