Morning Mindfulness-A Time for You

Maryt L Fredrickson, Ninth Judicial District Court Jackson, Wyoming

An early column in this series addressed mindfulness practices used in other industries, like sports teams and tech companies.[1] This month's column returns to that theme. Hosts of successful, well-known business and political leaders use morning mindfulness practices. Attorneys also run businesses and serve as political and community leaders, while also carrying out their unique professional and ethical obligations. Thus, like their non-legal colleagues, attorneys face at least equally challenging demands on their time and mental resources. A friend of mine with a grueling work schedule is noticeably less happy and expresses less professional and personal fulfillment on the days he skips his morning walk with his dog.
