Local Bar Visits

CBA President Loren Brown visited with the Pitkin County Bar Association on March 25 at the Little Nell Hotel. He was accompanied by CBA/DBA Executive Director Patrick Flaherty. Their visit even included an Arnold Schwarzenegger sighting.

On April 7, Loren Brown visited the Heart of the Rockies Bar Association and attended a luncheon at Fiesta Mexicana in Salida. The following day, he convened with members of the Fremont/Custer Bar Association at DiRito's Restaurant in Canon City.

Adams/Broomfield Bar Association Bench-Bar Banquet

The Adams/Broomfield Bar Association's Annual Bench-Bar Banquet was held on March 16 at the Riverdale Golf Course in Brighton. The event concluded with an awards presentation. Andrew Poland was presented with the Young Lawyer of the Year award; Scott Evens received the Excellence in Practice award; and Judge Sabino Romano was honored with the Civility in Practice award.

The State of the Death Penalty Symposium—University of Denver

On April 2, the University of Denver Criminal Law Review hosted its inaugural symposium, "State of the Death Penalty." During the program, a panel of guest speakers, moderated by DU Law Professor Nancy Leong, debated about the constitutionality, social utility, and future availability of capital punishment in our legal system. Panelists were criminal defense attorney Jim Castle, Senior Deputy District Attorney Rich Orman, DU Law Professor Ian Farrell, former Chief Deputy District Attorney and radio host Craig Silverman, and Denver District Attorney candidate Michael Carrigan. The panelists' expertise and unique viewpoints made for an exciting two-hour debate.

CBA YLD Bullyproof Program
