Michael L. Bernstein is a partner with Arnold & Porter LLP in Washington, D.C., and chair of the firm's national bankruptcy and corporate restructuring practice. For 25 years, he has represented secured and unsecured creditors, investors and asset-purchasers, private-equity funds and their portfolio companies, committees, bondholders, debtors, officers and directors, and other parties in a wide variety of bankruptcy and restructuring matters, and in related litigation throughout the U.S. Mr. Bernstein is a member of ABI's Board of Directors and a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, for which he serves on the College's Bankruptcy Policy Committee. He has testified before Congress on several occasions and recently served as co-chair of the Labor and Benefits advisory committee of the ABI Commission to Study the Reform of Chapter 11. Mr. Bernstein has been recognized as a leading bankruptcy lawyer by numerous publications, including The Best Lawyers in America (Washington D.C. "Lawyer of the Year" for bankruptcy/restructuring), Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business, The Legal 500 US: Corporate and Finance, Guide to the World's Leading Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers, Washington D.C. Prof. George W. Kuney is the director of the Clayton Center for Entrepreneurial Law at the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville, Tenn., and teaches business associations, contracts, consumer bankruptcy seminars, contract drafting, commercial leasing, remedies, representing enterprises, and workouts and reorganizations.
