Alaska has seen an average of 57 bankruptcies per month over the last year, with a high of 76 last October and a low of 39 in January of this year. Not surprisingly, the majority of all cases are filed in Anchorage, with around 40 cases filed within the state's largest city every month. About 11 cases are filed in Fairbanks, and six cases elsewhere in the state, primarily in Juneau and Kenai.

The majority of bankruptcies are filed by individuals, not businesses. An average of five cases is filed by Alaska businesses every month. A small spike was seen in businesses declaring bankruptcy in February. An average of just under 52 non-business bankruptcies is declared every month.
