Bankers throughout the nation are preparing for the National Teach Children to Save Day, which is April 29. This year will be the program's 12th anniversary.

Participating banks are scheduling presentations at their local elementary, junior or senior high school, during after-school programs or at community centers.

Sponsored by the ABA Education Foundation, the program is designed to enlighten youth about the importance of saving. Recent studies report that almost 90 percent of young people have never taken a class in personal finance, although they spend an aggregate of billions each year.
