Bank gives $250,000 for aquatic center.

Bank of America on Tuesday announced $250,000 in grant funding to enhance operations and programming for the Dr. T.K. Gregg Community Center in the Northside community as part of a special partnership with Northside Development Group and the city of Spartanburg.

Bank of America's support of the Dr. T.K. Gregg Community Center will be dedicated to activities at the aquatic center, a year-round facility that will offer community swim lessons and use, competitions and elementary school-based curriculum swim instruction and training.

"We're thrilled to support the Dr. T.K. Gregg Community Center and be part of transformational change in Spartanburg's Northside community, "Stacy Brandon, Bank of America market president for the Upstate, said in a news release. "We look forward to seeing the residents of the neighborhood using this amazing facility in 2020. At Bank of America, we believe in the power of collaboration and strategic investment to improve economic, social and health outcomes for the communities where we live and work."

The vision for the Dr. T.K. Gregg Community Center stems from the ongoing Northside Initiative process of the Northside Development Group and Northside Voyagers neighborhood group, along with the city of Spartanburg, as part of the most ambitious redevelopment effort in Spartanburg's history, according to the news release. Plans for redevelopment include expanded housing, economic, educational, health and social opportunities for area residents.
