(funding for the acquisition required disposing of E&P refining and real estate holdings.) Appointed Finance VP, Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co., and worked with management team to reverse its eroding market share. Named Controller, then Treasurer for PanEnergy Corp., which merged with Duke Power Co. As VP, Planning & Finance for Duke, learned the electricity business; by 1999, SVP & Controller of Duke Energy Corp. In summer of 2001, left finance to become SVP, Retail Services.

Leisure Pursuits: "I enjoy both quiet and active pursuits, such as: devoting time to church activities, teaching elementary Sunday school and also serving as treasurer for our women's group mission activities. I view these as rewarding ways to invest time that will pay dividends for years to come. With two grown and independent sons, I now have time to support my [aging] mother's needs. As an annual subscriber to local theatre, I share the performing arts with my mother, and the dramatic events, as well as fine dining, with my husband. Besides reading and caring for houseplants, I routinely visit the weight room, am learning golf and hoping for future opportunities to enjoy my favorite outdoor activity, river rafting."
