In 2004, ChicoBag founder Andy Keller took a trip to a local landfill and was horrified to notice a sea of single-use bags. On his ride home, he continued to see the bags littered everywhere. At that moment, he vowed to stop using the sacks and subsequently set out to create reusable bags that are lightweight and convenient to carry.

Intending to raise awareness of the impact of single-use bags, Keller whipped up the "Bag Monster:' a costume made out of 500 plastic bags. This number, astonishingly, represents the average number of bags one person uses in a single year.
