Most white students aren't ready for the real world, and nonwhites are even worse off. That's because schools have grown increasingly segregated since 1992, according to a Harvard study.

"White children are growing up in a society that is going to become more than half minority, [yet] they are almost totally isolated," says Gary Orfield, study co-director. Minorities tend to be in high-poverty schools with fewer qualified teachers and lower test scores.
